PEHAM, NY (January 11, 2018) – Scott Ramsey has been hired as Head Novice Rowing Coach/Varsity Assistant Coach at Pelham Community Rowing Association (PCRA). He will oversee development and planning for the club's Intermediate and Development teams in addition to supporting all aspects of the Varsity team and club programming.

Ramsey is a seasoned NCAA Division I head rowing coach with 12 years of experience recruiting, developing and leading winning rowing teams. He comes to PCRA after six years as Head Coach of Columbia University’s NCAA D1 Rowing team. While at Columbia, Ramsey presided over the most successful period in Columbia Women’s Rowing history, setting program records in championship medals, Ivy League wins, regular season wins, and national ranking. He earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2013. Before Columbia, he was the Assistant Rowing Coach at University of Iowa, a NCAA D1 Big 10 Conference school. Ramsey rowed at University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2004.

Henrik Rummel, PCRA’s Director of Youth Rowing, believes Ramsey will have an immediate positive impact on the program. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Scott lead the development of our athletes. This hire represents a significant step forward for our rowing program and adds a veteran coach with fresh ideas, insight, and experience to our staff. There is no one better able to help our athletes navigate the ever complicated and daunting college recruiting process, than a former NCAA D1 Head Coach!”

Ramsey joins Olympian, Henrik Rummel, and former Princeton University Assistant Coach, Reid Johnson, as the leaders of the Youth Rowing at Pelham. The trio’s pedigree and experience is unparalleled in Youth Rowing in the US and they aim to create a nationally competitive rowing program at PCRA.

Founded in 2003, Pelham Community Rowing Association (PCRA) is committed to making rowing accessible to everyone. It draws students from more than 20 Westchester area high schools as well as New York City, who compete at the Novice, JV, and Varsity level. PCRA rows out of Westchester County's Glen Island Park on the waters of the 1964 Olympic Time Trial Course.

PCRA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization led by a volunteer board. One hundred percent of all fees collected by PCRA are committed to maintaining and enhancing the program. PCRA offers need-based financial assistance to committed participants.
