Masters Winter Training 2019 - 2020

Please join us for what  promises to be a fun and challenging winter focusing on strength, flexibility and speed!

Under the direction of  Chris Ives, Co-Founder and Head Coach of EngineRm in NYC, the winter training sessions for adults will consist of a combination of erging, flexibility and strength training. The classes are designed to improve overall cardiovascular and muscular fitness, as well as improve rowing technique.

Never been in a Crew shell? No problem! Come discover a new way to get in shape during the long winter months. These classes are not designed like “Cross Fit” but rather are a coached, controlled way to improve your fitness with an eye on injury prevention. The indoor rowing machine offers the distinct advantage of working all major muscle groups at once, with a resistance intensity that can be controlled by the athlete.

Held in Pelham Community Rowing’s new indoor studio located  at 91 Wolfs Lane,  we offer a distinct opportunity for elite instruction, previously only available in New York City, to Pelham and surrounding areas.

As part of the program, we are excited to announce that there will be one day of water training per week in the art of sweeping at the indoor rowing tank at Iona College’s Hynes Athletic Center.

Rowers of all abilities, aged 18 and up are welcome at any session.  Individual and private group sessions can be arranged upon request.

Masters Program Offered Year-Round

Recreational

Our Masters Intermediate/Recreational program is for those rowers who have some experience with rowing but are not yet ready for (or interested in) rowing competitively.  The course offers coached instruction typically in shells designed for 2 or 4 people, as well as singles rowing. Practice times are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:15am OR 8:45am. This is a great course for practicing and improving your skill in a fun and friendly environment.

Competitive

This course is for Masters rowers who are interested in competing.  PCRA has competitive Masters of all abilities, from those that have rowed through college and on the national level, to individuals who have discovered a new sport and enjoy the camaraderie of regattas and the challenge of competition. Practice times are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 5:30am OR 7:15am.

Learn To Row

We are always happy to welcome adults interested in learning about rowing. This sport is a wonderful activity, available to people of all ages. It is a challenging, rewarding, team-based sport, and it doesn’t hurt that we row in a beautiful setting on the Orchard Beach lagoon. Contact admin@pcrarowing.com for more information.
