Spring Youth Registration is OPEN

PCRA spring training begins March 4th at our boathouse on Glen Island! We are happy to announce that there will be no increase in fees from last spring while we keep the quality of coaching, equipment and facilities at a competitive level. A link to register will be posted soon.

TRAINING FACILITIES

Our boathouse on Glen Island is where we will be doing the bulk of our spring work. In the case of inclement weather, Varsity & Intermediate team practices may move to our indoor training facility located in the New Rochelle YMCA at 50 Weyman Avenue. We ask that all PCRA athletes maintain an active YMCA membership during March and April. All athletes will also have access to the fitness equipment available at its full-service gym, including a pool, weights, showers, sauna, and a variety of activities offered. Access to the ergs and equipment will be available at any time the YMCA is open.

ERGATHON

This is our largest fundraising event of the year for PCRA.  Funds raised at our Ergathon will be used to improve all aspects of PCRA that include new boats and equipment.  Rowers on all of our teams are required to participate. Ergathon 2019 will take place on Saturday, March 16th.

VARSITY TEAM

Varsity is open to High School students with previous rowing experience. Rowers will be invited to Varsity based on coach’s assessment and merit. Any athlete wishing to be considered for Varsity must complete and submit a 2k erg test by midnight on February 24th. Please submit a photo of the result screen to justin@pcrarowing.com (Girls Team) or reid@pcrarowing.com (Boys Team). Placement on Varsity/Intermediate will be announced on Wednesday, February 27th. The top 50 athletes (roughly divided 50/50 boys/girls) will be invited to compete on the Varsity squad. The Varsity squad practices will be 2h15m long, and will begin on Monday, March 4th. The Varsity squad will have 5 team practices per week, and a 6th required workout per week expected to be completed individually. As the team approaches States and Nationals, crews may be called for an additional weekend team practice if the rowers and coaches feel it’s necessary.  Plenty of advance notice will be given. The Varsity squad will aim to compete in every regatta. Attendance at all practices is required, absences may impact race participation. Varsity team members must maintain an active New Rochelle YMCA membership through the end of April. During inclement weather in March and April, Varsity practices may be moved to the Winter Training facility in the New Rochelle YMCA.

The Varsity team will train Monday - Friday from 5:15PM – 7:30PM

Fees for the Varsity team are $1,400
