Success Is A Journey by Abe Eligator
PCRA has changed my life. I entered the program four years ago and I am going to leave the program as a completely different person. I have been taught countless life lessons and have been able to develop as a person and as an athlete at PCRA. Rowing is a sport that really exemplifies the saying, “success is a journey, not a destination.” In rowing, the doing is often more important than the outcome.
While trying to get better at rowing, one faces many obstacles and challenges. Sometimes, it’s a mental block, an injury, or just luck not being in your favor. However, there is no educator as good as adversity and during my time spent at PCRA I have been able to develop skills to cope with having my back against the wall. I learned that if you keep your head up and put in the work, success will follow.
I am so happy that I will be able to continue my rowing career for at least four more years and continue to develop as a person and an athlete. I am excited for the challenges I will face and look forward to meeting them with the skills I have developed at PCRA.
